I invested professionally through dotcom and The Great Recession. Many people in both bear markets claimed that ‘this time it will be different’. In 1999, for example, analysts insisted the internet would change everything. The internet did change everything, but it didn't save stocks from a serious beating.

Could we be in a V-shaped recovery as you suggest? Sure, maybe. However, I don’t know any credible economists predicting a quick recovery anymore. Are you following anyone who still claims stocks will go back to all-time highs or is it your gut feeling?
